Print studios open their doors to refugee artists

, Edinburgh Printmakers are leading a new project that will offer refugee artists residencies in internationally recognised print studios. The project called ‘In from the Margins’ is funded by Creative Europe, an initiative co-funded by The European Union, which will offer 30 artists from refugee and migrant backgrounds residencies in studios through Europe.

Next, Thai company Harn Engineering Solutions has revealed how it is using a Domino N610i inkjet label press to print applications to support the ongoing battle against Covid-19. Harn is using its seven-colour machine to digitally print full colour labels incorporating variable data QR codes, which are then applied to oxygen concentrators being used in the fight against Covid-19 in Thailand.

Now, throughout the pandemic many industries and outlets have needed quick and effective printed materials to help inform and protect public. One company that was able to not only print these supplies, but also deliver it around the world, was FedEx. We spoke to senior vice president of commercial business development at FedEx Office, Aimee DiCicco, about their work.

And finally, Canadian large-format print company Creative Silhouettes produced a range of colourful graphics using the HP Latex R1000 printer, and materials from Drytac as part of a project to bring new life to an area of Toronto, Canada. The project meant transferring the work of artist Hello Kirsten onto 12 solid marble benches at the busy City intersection to brighten up the area.
